Concealed carry Qualification class $125 per person, $200 for couples
Per HB 24-1174 Effective 07/01/2025
Colorado requires 8 hours of instruction and 50 rounds of practice (70% accuracy) Along with a written exam (80% or better to pass) and at least 2 hours of training to requalify every 5 years.

Course Overview: The class typically spans 2 days of training ( 4 hours each day) consisting of both classroom instruction and live-fire exercises. Participants are required to bring their personal firearms and ammunition. A safety briefing starts the day, emphasizing the importance of firearm safety, including the four fundamental rules of firearm handling: muzzle control, finger discipline, target identification, and the importance of knowing what lies beyond the target.

Legal Requirements: Understanding state and federal laws governing concealed carry, including permit acquisition, restrictions, and reciprocity with other states.
Concealment Options: An exploration of various holster types and carry methods, including inside-the-waistband (IWB), outside-the-waistband (OWB), and alternative carry methods. Emphasis is placed on choosing a method that suits individual lifestyle needs.
Effective Use of Force: Discussion on the legal and ethical implications of using force, situational awareness, de-escalation techniques, and the importance of avoiding confrontations when possible.
Mental Preparedness: Techniques for developing a responsible mindset for carrying a concealed firearm, focusing on the psychological aspects of self-defense.
Maintenance and Care: Instruction on proper firearm maintenance, care, and the importance of regular training and proficiency to ensure safe handling and operation.
Practical Exercises: Following the classroom instruction, participants transition to the live-fire range where they engage in practical exercises designed to build confidence and proficiency. Key components of this segment include:
Drawing from Concealment: Instruction on effective and safe drawing techniques from various concealment methods.
Shooting Fundamentals: Reinforcement of stance, grip, sight alignment, and trigger control through drills that focus on accuracy and speed.

This advanced-level course is designed for responsible armed citizens who want to move beyond basic concealed carry and develop a more complete, layered approach to personal protection. At the 4th Box Firearms Academy, we teach that self-defense is not just about a firearm—it is about awareness, decision-making, movement, and the ability to break contact and escape safely.
Students will learn how to intelligently integrate concealed carry with practical hand-to-hand skills, including defensive strikes, punches, movement, and techniques for breaking grips and holds. You will practice how to create space, disengage from an attacker, and safely escape a dangerous situation while maintaining control and awareness of your surroundings.
The course also introduces defensive tools and implements—such as knives and other everyday carry options—focusing on legal considerations, safe handling, and when their use may be appropriate within a broader self-defense strategy.
